Something about Geograph

A lot of you know that I am a map nut and am very into the Geograph site. (FWIW, it is fascinating, brilliant, a contribution to the historical record of the British Isles for posterity, and sometimes, as in the photo by Keith Evans above, very amusing).

I have been meaning to blog that this summer I managed to introduce Big to Geographing through the schools Geograph site. There was a competition running for photos submitted by children, sponsored by the Ordnance Survey with prizes for the entrant who submitted images for the most OS grid squares and also one for the child who submitted the best picture.

Big had an email a couple of weeks ago to tell her that she had won the latter, best picture part of the competition. The prize was a …
