Holy Rat Race

Holy Rat Race

…. Batman!

In a move of unusual intelligence, the BBC has started airing the original 1960s series of Batman. In a move of unusual stupidity, they have put it on in the middle of the night on BBC3. So we nearly missed them entirely.

Anyway, the smalls have just been watching “True Or False Face” and “Holy Rat Race” from series 1.

They seem to really love them, although to the jaded eyes of us adults, they are even more rubbish than we remembered.

Incidentally, Batman (Adam West), is 79, Robin (Burt Ward) is 62.

Sadly, Myrna Fahey, who is pictured with them in a purple wig in the photo above, died at the age of 40, back in 1973.

ooh thanks for mentioning it, otherwise we *would* have missed it altogether – our kids love the original film but haven’t seen the original series.

They are wonderful, I particularly loved the bit in “The Joker Goes to School” one of last week’s episodes Batman says something like “he is trying to make you flunk high school so that you won’t be able to get jobs and will have no choice but to join criminal gangs”.
I do hope they are going to run the whole lot.
