
Joan Ruddock “minister for climate change and biodiversity” says “invasive non-native species pose a very serious threat to our native plants, animals and the local environment they live in, costing the British economy around £2 billion a year.”
The Government is introducing new measures to hopefully protect England from foreign invaders. More than 70 species including the American Bullfrog will be added to the list of non-native birds, fish, animals and plants under schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
So Enoch Powell was right when he warned of “Ribbits of blood”.
