Satnav

5 August 2007 by Tim 7 Comments

The driver of a £96k Mercedes SL500 had a lucky escape after her satnav directed her down a winding track and straight into the River Sence. more… (The Register)

Could have been worse, she might have been using Google Maps to route her from Felixstowe to Bawdsey*.

*Now fixed and rerouted through Woodbridge.

“More money than sense” came to mind.
I suspect the satnav is incidental to brain functionality or lack thereof.

ROFL, I argue with my SatNav regularly especially when it tries to take me on unclassified roads or on the M6 to get anywhere on the east side of the country.
How exactly you get to pass a driving test and be dim enough to drive into a river though….?

“So I opened the gate, drove forward, closed the gate behind me and then went to go and open the gate in front of me.
“Then I heard this train and I noticed train tracks. It was only then that I did realise I was on a train crossing. ”
U-huh, so there were no signs for this gated crossing? No little clues like the rails glinting in the headlights? And the instruction to open the gates (notice the “S”) if the lights are GREEN then drive through before closing them didn’t give any clues either?
Hmm, back to my question of how you can be that dim and pass the test…
