In pouring rain, and with an immediate diversion to avoid this……..

Which is about one hundred yards from our house, fortunately, we are a couple of feet higher. I was disappointed when some people at the other end of the flood dissuaded a moron in a little Suzuki 4WD from trying to drive through it. It would have made a great picture when he failed, it really is quite deep in the middle and little Suzukis are not Land Rovers.
Wow, what a rain! Do you have basements in the UK? Here, that much rain would be flooding some family rooms!!!
Modern houses tend not to have basements, they seem to have gone out of fashion in the 1920’s, I have no idea why. My last house had an excellent cellar, which housed the boiler, and was an excellent laundry room and store. I miss having it.
Well, that is more water than we have but I can hear sirens…..
Are they coming for you, at last? 🙂
Yeah but I have tin foil round the windows so they don’t know I’m here….
shhhhhh………
😆
Yep, Chris was knee-deep (on the pavement, and he’s not a short bloke) on Abbeydale Road when he finally gave up riding his push-bike coming home from work today and had to work hard against the current. (Told him to avoid it as I’d heard it was bad, but that’s probably the wrong thing to say to a boy with a bike *sigh*.) Good job he wasn’t in the car. We have accepted defeat re getting to Kessie. Car finally fixed at 4pm this afternoon, but by then not a hope of getting through. Roads here (the ones that are open anyway) were gridlocked. Jax did well to get away when she did…
