My Maps

6 April 2007 by Tim 2 Comments

Just been playing with Google’s new My Maps feature.

I have been contributing, sporadically to the Geograph project (photos of every map square in the UK).

Now I have a Google Map of my Geographs.

The Google map is more gratifying than the maps on Geograph, there you get to see just how few of the squares I have taken pics of, whereas on Google, you think wow, look at all the big blue blobs. One thing which did disappoint me is that the blue blobs are not accurately positioned. Geograph resolves down to ten digit grid coordinates and Google frequently fails to convert that back correctly.

It might be nice to set up a map for the blog, so when I mention a place we can put in a link to it on our map.

I really must do more this year, I think Geograph is fascinating, and it is nice to see your own pictures on there.
