Lowest form

7 March 2005 by Tim

Is not getting sarcasm a feature of all five year olds? If not, I want to swap ours for one who gets it, or alternatively, get remedial treatment for ours.

We have spent years here, honing and polishing new nadirs in the lowest form of wit, only to have them sail off into oblivion over Big’s fair head.

Poppy and Tilda both get it….to such an extent that they seem to think I am sarcastic whenever I open my mouth. Not sure they got it at 5.

It often goes right over Anna’s head, Abbie is more likely to get it, but not always. That’s just their personalities, I think!

Dino doesn’t even get humour let alone the fine art of sarcasm. You’ll just have to try harder!

lol – D not only ‘gets’ sarcasm he is also prone to dishing it out at times. Never sure whether to be proud or horrified. But I do know that in his world it is a higher form of wit than his knock knock jokes ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m just looking forward to a day when the punch line of any joke in this house isn’t ‘poo poo’.

My two seem to have inherited my unsophisticated sense of humour so sarcasm usually offends Pip and both enjoy poo type jokes wholeheartedly!!
