That is not what I said! sounds like they are a couple of pieces sitting on a plate going cold…. I said that there’s a couple of slices that she’s decided she doesn’t like – and they are still in the freezer…

It was our work Christmas meal today. At the end I found it very hard not to ask colleagues who had left food on their plates to pass them down to me…..

At the last Christmas meal we attended, we *did* all pass our plates down to the graduate – was quite amazing how much food he managed to put away…
Goodness, you lot must have odd workplaces, if you are actually willing to voluntarily spend time and money with each other to have a xmas meal. Weird ๐

Yes, always an advantage. I spent two hours in a union meeting today, consoling myself that at least in was all contribution to my hours for the week…..

Is that the correct apostrophe for “meant” then? I always look at it, decide it can’t be right either way and rephrase my sentence!
It is a past participle. They don’t have apostrophes.
